The King from ‘King of the Golden Mountain’, oil on canvas, 77cm x 102cm (in progress). I am trying to capture a look of regret and self-righteousness at the same time…  Click here to view my initial digital mockup of the composition.

Today I thought it might be a bit exciting to only paint half of his face in the over painting. (Living on the edge).

I Told You This Day Would Come (revisited)

I Told You...
This is a digital update of my oil painting titled ‘I Told You This Day Would Come’, on a wooden window shutter, shown in this previous post.  I am slowly opening my mind up to the concept that artwork doesn’t have to be purist in order to have integrity: it isn’t ‘selling out’ to let a piece live a new life using Photoshop. For me it is enough that a work is created using traditional techniques, and if the digital medium can add depth or atmosphere when  traditional skills couldn’t (for what ever reason), then why not utilize it?

Her Metamorphosis (Retrograde)

So, she is finally finished. ‘Her Metamorphosis (retrograde)’. Oil and silk fabric on canvas, 80cm x 80cm.

She will be on show at the exhibition ‘Metamorphosis’, Tashkeel Gallery, Dubai from March 11th.

Once, there was the sound of leaves…

After many, many, many, many hours, I do believe I am finished. Now, if only I could figure out a way to generate an income from art! Sigh.

Horse painting in progress

Having finally finished painting the trees (which took a few days), I added some contrast to the foreground grass as well as around the base of the trees in order to anchor them to the ground, and here you see me painting the base colour for the moon. A constellation of stars to follow soon.

Here is the aforementioned paint wielding nemesis of the horse. First layer of colour.

My horse hero after he has been attacked by his paint wielding nemesis on the right hand side of the painting. She had applied the same blue eye shadow and pink blush to her horse as she has to herself.

There’s no such thing as always…. not on Earth…

This little lass is wanting more ‘always’ in her life and can not find it on her home planet of Earth. Perhaps if she tries hard enough, aliens will come and take her to their ‘Always’ planet…

2011, acrylic and tin-foil on wardrobe door.
Approx 50cm wide x 175cm high.
