When I painted this the worst bushfires in Australia’s modern history had just swept through my state of Victoria. I was thinking about hope and how important it is to believe in a positive future.

She thought her new outfit was so pretty! Why is everyone whistling?
In my eyes, this is about a little girl on stage at her school concert. She is about to do her solo dance routine for the audience, in her favourite dress and bunny ears, but little does she know of the playboyesque connotations of the bunny ears or the way children can so easily be sexualised. The audience starts whistling and sees her as an object instead of an innocent child with her fairy wand.
She is so confused.
